Introduction of HOD ENT
Maj Gen (Retd) Sayed Nusrat Raza HI (M) Graduated from Army Medical College in December 1984. After house job and field service, he began his specialist training in ENT and completed his FCPS in 1995. He then proceeded to UK for advanced training in ENT and Head & Neck Surgery. He completed his FRCS from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (UK) in 2002 after which he returned to Pakistan and resumed his duties. He has a passion for continual medical education and has been in faculty of five different Medical Colleges of the country located in three different provinces. He also has the unique honor to be Principal of two of the Army’s prestigious Medical Colleges i.e. he was the founder Principal of Medical College at CMH Multan for two years, and subsequently Principal of the prestigious Army Medical College for two years. He is also one of the pioneers of Cochlear Implant surgery in Pakistan where till date he has performed or supervised more than 300 cochlear implant surgeries, taking these deaf children out from muted world to the world of listening and melodies. To his credit he, has more than 50 publications in different medical and non-medical journals.
About ENT Department
ENT Department of Foundation University Medical College is very well equipped with rich human resource. It is geared to cater for diagnosis and management of whole range of ENT disorders. Most extensive oral, ear and nasal surgeries are done routinely. Allied support of plastic and thoracic surgeons has enabled the department to undertake the most complicated head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgeries.
Audiological facilities range from latest audiogram, tympanogram and Brainstem evoked response audiometer (BERA). Middle ear reconstructive surgeries like stapedectomy, myringoplasty and ossiculoplasty are done frequently. It has also now entered the list of few ENT departments of the country doing Cochlear Implant surgery.
The department is fully recognized for FCPS Part II training and its trainees have consistently been producing exceptional result in the FCPS examination, which has in turn earned the department the reputation of excellent training and teaching center for ENT trainees.
