Mother’s Day – Preeclampsia Awareness Session 2026
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Fauji Foundation Hospital organized a “Mother’s Day – Preeclampsia Awareness” session on 18th May 2026 in the Conference Room, FFH by Prof Dr. Azra Saeed Awan, HOD OBGYN & her team. The event aimed to promote awareness regarding early recognition, timely management, and prevention of preeclampsia to improve maternal and fetal outcomes. Mrs. Maj. Gen. Zafar Iqbal graced the occasion as Chief Guest and shared valuable comments and suggestions for improvement in maternal health services, while the Commandant FFH attended as Guest of Honour. More than 100 participants attended the session, including Patron-in-Chiefs of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Pakistan (SOGP) Rawalpindi/Islamabad Chapter, Prof. Dr. Maimoona Mushtaq and Prof. Dr. Syeda Batool Mazhar, senior SOGP members, female faculty members, postgraduate trainees (PGTs) from the twin cities, medical and nursing students, and healthcare professionals.
Prof. Dr. Azra Saeed Awan, HOD OBGYN delivered a presentation on maternal mortality, highlighting its major causes and comparing Pakistan’s maternal mortality statistics with international data. Dr. Saira Nazeer, Associate Prof OBGYN presented an informative talk on preeclampsia, discussing its importance, management, and related clinical scenarios. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Zartaj Hayat, Head of Gynae Unit-II followed by a hands-on training session in the Clinical Skills Lab, making the event informative, interactive, and academically enriching.
