World Health Day 2024: Foundation University's Comprehensive Health Awareness Campaign
Foundation University Islamabad marked World Health Day 2024 with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at promoting health awareness and community engagement. Under the theme "My Health, My Right," the Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with various departments and student volunteers, organized a range of activities across different venues.
Pre-Event Activities: The pre-event activities included Healthy Nutrition & Safe Water Awareness Drives at multiple locations, such as Higher Aim School Kotha Kallan and BHU Kotha Kallan in Rawalpindi. These drives involved distributing informational pamphlets, engaging in face painting sessions, and distributing seeds and alum for water purification. Additionally, awareness drives were conducted at the Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology Departments, emphasizing the importance of healthy nutrition and safe water.
A significant highlight was the "Go Green for Clean Environment" initiative, where a Flower/Tree Plantation Drive was organized at the FUSH Campus Sports Ground in collaboration with the Pathology Department.
The arrangement of a free medical camp in the Khota Kallan Union Council, coupled with a campaign to raise awareness about family planning, highlights the university's dedication to extending support to marginalized communities and meeting their healthcare requirements.
Main Event: The pinnacle of the celebrations was the World Health Day Seminar on "My Health, My Right" held at the prestigious Jinnah Auditorium on April 26th, 2024. Esteemed speakers including Director FUSH, Maj Gen Prof Imran Fazal, Rector FUI Maj Gen (Retd) Mohammad Kalim Asif, and HOD Community Medicine Department, Prof Dr. Naila Azam, shared insights on various health-related topics. Notable contributions were made by UNFPA Rep Dr. Rasheed Ahmad, FAO Rep Florence Rolle, and Director Army Heritage Foundation Brig Khalid Afridi. The presence of WHO Country Rep Dr. Luo Dapeng as Chief Guest underscored the significance of the occasion.
