Prevention of Harassment at Workplace

The seminar began with recitation from The Holy Quran. The focal person for seminar, Dr Shumaila Humayun, Assistant Professor Community Medicine Department formally inaugurated the session, highlighting that the topic was need of the hour and had become a growing concern both at national and international levels. Brig Naila Azam HOD Community Medicine was invited for her welcome address. She also presented a report on FUI Anti-harassment Policy & Committee.

This was followed by a talk on “Women Empowerment & Harassment of women at workplace by Prof Dr Azra Yasmin, from Fatima Jinnah University. A talk was delivered by Ms Nabila Zar Malick, Technical Advisor to National commission on the Status of Women, United Nations Women Pakistan, on the topic of harassment prevention and its impact on women of Pakistan.

Dr Usama Bin Nazeer, Consultant Psychiatrist FFH threw light on the topic of Harassment: A Challenge for Mental health or Ground for Post-traumatic growth.He highlighted various coping strategies for students.

The chief guest Dr Shehzad Ali Khan VC HSA emphasized that harassment is repeated unwanted act which needs to be stopped on the very first incidence and not later than that.

Brig Prof Naila Azam, HOD community medicine and Director FUSH thanked the worthy guests for raising awareness of the audience on workplace harassment prevention and management.

Closing remarks were given by Maj Gen Imran Fazal. Director FUSH, who appreciated the efforts put in by students and faculty of Community Medicine. In the end, chief guest Dr Shehzad Ali Khan distributed Souvenirs to worthy presenters.
