A 04-day (29th November to 02nd December 2022) Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies training course was held at Health Services Academy, Islamabad via National Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Network (NHEPRN) in collaboration with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC).
Head of Department Community Medicine, Brig Prof. Dr. Naila Azam was the Master Trainer, while FCPS II Residents Community Medicine, Dr. Fatima Ali Raza Mughal and Dr. Mariam Razzaq were participants.
The course focused on how hospitals could increase their capacity to deal with emergency situations such a flood, road traffic accidents and other Mass Casualty incidents, how to identify structures at risk of collapsing during a seismic event, the development of a Hospital Incident Command Centre to be activated in times of emergency and dealing with the aftermath of a disaster.
The residents who attended the course are now in preparation for helping improve FFH Rawalpindi’s capacity to effectively manage disaster situations and to achieve HOPE certification.
