Dengue fever is a year-round and nationwide risk in Pakistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Islamabad have been witnessing a spike in number of dengue cases since October this year. In this regard, Dr Mehwish Riaz from Department of Community Medicine Foundation University Medical College conducted an awareness session on FUI Radio channel FM 101.8
She talked about mode of transmission, clinical picture, complications and preventive measures of dengue fever. She added that higher authorities are paying immediate attention to control the spread. However, she stressed upon public to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from mosquito bites as there is no suitable treatment available for dengue fever.
