Scope of the Program

BS Dental Technology program prepares the students for diverse clinical and academic roles in dental healthcare sector. Combining technical expertise with patient focused care, graduates can work in dental hospitals, clinics and laboratories. Throughout the course of the degree program, students gain hands-on experience in patient management, oral hygiene education, chairside assistance, basic therapeutic procedures, and the construction of removable and fixed dental prostheses.

Goals of Program

The Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology Program is designed in line with HEC's Undergraduate Education Policy V 1.1, aiming to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of dental sciences and patient care techniques. 

Scope of Practice

This program prepares graduates to effectively support dental surgeons and deliver essential oral healthcare services in diverse clinical settings. Students are trained to evaluate patient needs, perform designated therapeutic procedures, and contribute to dental rehabilitation through the provision of well-designed prosthetic and preventive solutions. Upon completion, graduates are positioned for careers in dental clinics, hospitals, community health centers, clinical Dental labs and prosthodontic practices, and specialized dental care units, both within Pakistan and internationally. The program empowers students to play a vital role in improving oral health outcomes and advancing the standards of clinical dental care. 

Learning Outcomes

By the completion of Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology (Allied Health Sciences) program, the graduates will be able to:

a)   Apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills in dental technology, integrating dental sciences and critical thinking for effective patient care.

b)   Competently use dental instruments, perform clinical and laboratory procedures, and fabricate prosthodontic, orthodontic, and surgical dental appliances.

c)       Deliver safe, ethical, and effective primary oral health care, contributing to community dental health improvement.

d)      Engage in research, professional development, and responsible practice, enhancing the role of dental technologists in healthcare.

Program Description

Spanning eight semesters, the curriculum provides a balanced and progressive learning experience that combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and supervised clinical exposure. Throughout the course of the degree program, students gain hands-on experience in patient management, oral hygiene education, chairside assistance, basic restorative care, impression-taking, and the construction and fitting of removable and fixed dental appliances. Emphasis is placed on infection control, safety protocols, and the use of modern dental equipment and digital technologies.

·         Level:                        Bachelor (Level 6)

·         Eligibility:                  F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or equivalent with 50% Minimum marks from Board of intermediate & Secondary Education (or as per HEC Latest Criteria)

·         Course Duration:    Semester Based (8-Semesters)

 (18 weeks each including exams)

· Credit Hours:          139 credit Hours (including course work, clinical practice, research project & Internship).

Entry Test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based containing 50 MCQs of Total 50 Marks. There will be no Negative Marking and applicants will be given a time period of 1 hour to answer 50 MCQs. Following are the Detailed Division of Total
