A guest speaker lecture on "Integrating Rehabilitation for Drug Addiction and Mental Health Challenges," was held on October 18, 2023, in Lecture Hall 4. It was a pivotal event for clinical aspects of social sciences module. Focal person for the event; Prof. Dr. Nosheen Zaidi introduced the session, setting stage for an exhilarating discussion ahead.
Ms. Asia Ashraf, Director of Rehabilitation at Greenfield Hospital of Psychiatry, Islamabad, delivered a thought-provoking interactive lecture, highlighting the impact of psychoactive substances on the central nervous system and their effects on perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and behavior during general medicine clinical practice. Contributions to discussion by Mr. Shakoor Ahmed Mehar and Ms. Sarah Sheikh from Alshakoor Foundation, made it a comprehensive and informative event.
The students actively participated in Q&A session. Brig. Prof. Naila Azam concluded the session, by highlighting the importance of learning to consider psychological aspects in every clinical interaction by future physicians, especially in primary health care settings.
